Does Surface Pro 8 have a full-size USB port?
No, it doesn’t. Unfortunately, there is no USB-A or Full-Size USB port available on all Surface Pro 8 models. Microsoft has decided to remove the port with its new design and two new Thunderbolt™️ 4 ports in Surface Pro 8. Therefore, you will need a USB-C to USB-A dongle, hub, or dock to connect to your USB-A devices.
Here are all the ports, buttons, and slots available on Surface Pro 8.

We appreciate hearing your thoughts, questions, and ideas about “Does Surface Pro 8 have USB-A port?”.
I should have done homework before I purchased it. I thought it was similar to the Surface 6. I was fortunate that I had a DATALOGIXX external backup drive on hand.
I agree, I am very disappointed in it not having a regular USB-A port.
Not completely true…there is a USB-A port on the power brick. Not ideal, but I also have a long 10ft multi-port cable which gives me the reach to charge things. Again, not ideal, but there is one available.
Thank you for that comment. Have you tried to transferred files from here? I plugged my thumb drive in but nothing happen. I wasn’t told when I purchased this that there was no USB-A port to transfer my files. Can you help me out?
Extremely disappointed. This unfortunately is not an upgrade am happy with, cant connect usb or mouse.
Recommend getting a blue tooth mouse. I had one on my old surface, which also came with the USB-A port. and you can get a decent-priced one through Logitech.
What the hell is wrong with the Microsoft engineers, do they not live on the same planet as the reset of us? All most computer peripherals are USB-A. Idiots!!
Microsoft just lost a customer over not having a USB A port. Sorry but it is a dealt breaker. I’ll stick with my old tablet. BTW the only reason I did not choose iPad or Samsung tablets WAS due to the USB-A port. Ah well.
