Microsoft Surface Pro (2017) Update

Microsoft has released another firmware update to all Microsoft Surface Pro (5th Gen – 2017 models) to improves overall battery life and audio performance. These updates will be available for all Microsoft Surface Pro 5 devices running Windows 10 May 2019 update (version 1903) or later.

The update will available in four driver update packages that three of them from Realtek manufacturer and one from the Surface team to provide better integration between Surface service and Realtek service. The update is listed as “December 03, 2020 release” on the Surface Pro (5th Gen) Update History page.

Updating your Surface Pro (5th Gen) via Windows Update

You can get this new Firmware Update by:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security > Windows Update
  2. Click on Check for updates

If your Surface Pro (5th Gen) didn’t have the update installed yet, it should appear on the Windows Update page now.
