Surface Laptop 5 Updates

Microsoft has started rolling out new firmware updates for Surface Laptop 5. The latest update is available for Surface Laptop 5 devices running Windows 10 October 2022 Update, Version 22H2, or later.

The new firmware update better pen inking performance, improved graphics stability, better support for the 3rd party apps. The update is listed as a “December 01 release” on the Surface Laptop 5 Update History page.

Getting the Updates via Windows Update

You can get this new Firmware Update via Windows Updates, as we detailed here:

On Windows 11:

  1. Go to Start > Settings (Win + I)
    Open Settings app on Windows 11
  2. Go to Windows Update and click on the Check for updates button

On Windows 10:

  1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security.

  2. From the Windows Update tab, click Check for updates

If your Surface Laptop 5 didn’t receive the update, it should appear on the Windows Update list by now.
