It links to various computer components, including RAM, GPU, input/output devices, and storage units, over circuit wires called system buses.

CPU architecture defines how instructions are encoded and executed. Microsoft has adopted the two most popular x86 and ARM architectures for its devices. However, only a few Surface models use ARM processors, including the Surface Duo, Surface RT, Surface 2, Surface Pro X, and Surface Pro 9 5G.
