Surface Pro 5 Firmware Updates

Microsoft has started rolling out new firmware updates for Surface Pro 5. The following updates are available for all Surface Pro (Model 1796 & Model 1807) devices running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, build 1709 or later:

The new firmware update will improve LTE stability when using e-SIM. The update is listed as an “August 30 release” on the Surface Pro 5 Update History page.

Below is the complete changelog provided by Microsoft for the new updates. It includes the name and version listed in the Windows Updates and the name listed in Device Manager.

Getting the Updates via Windows Update

You can get this new Firmware Update via Windows Updates, as we detailed here:
On Windows 11:
  1. Go to Start > Settings (Win + I) Open Settings app on Windows 11
  2. Go to Windows Update and click on the Check for updates button Check for updates on Windows 11
On Windows 10:
  1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & security Windows 10 Settings > Update & Security
  2. From the Windows Update tab, click Check for updates Windows 10 - Check for updates
If your Surface Pro 5 didn't receive the update, it should appear on the Windows Update list by now.
